Job Description



### **Job Overview:**

The **Category Manager** will be responsible for managing and growing a specific product category (or categories) within our fashion e-commerce platform. This role involves strategic planning, vendor management, inventory optimization, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure the category's success. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the fashion industry, e-commerce trends, and customer behavior.

### **Key Responsibilities:**


1. **Category Strategy Development:**

   - Develop and execute a comprehensive category strategy to drive sales, profitability, and market share.

   - Analyze market trends, customer insights, and competitive landscape to identify growth opportunities.

   - Set category goals, KPIs, and budgets in alignment with company objectives.
 

2. **Vendor and Supplier Management:**

   - Identify, onboard, and manage relationships with key suppliers and brands within the category.

   - Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to ensure competitive advantage and profitability.

   - Collaborate with vendors to plan product assortments, launches, and promotions.

 
3. **Inventory and Assortment Planning:**

   - Oversee inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability while minimizing overstock and markdowns.

   - Curate product assortments that align with customer preferences and market trends.

   - Monitor product performance and make data-driven decisions to optimize the assortment.

 
4. **Pricing and Promotions:**

   - Develop pricing strategies to maximize revenue and margin while remaining competitive.

   - Plan and execute promotional campaigns, discounts, and sales events to drive traffic and conversion.

   - Monitor competitor pricing and adjust strategies accordingly.

 

5. **Cross-Functional Collaboration:**

   - Work closely with marketing, merchandising, and sales teams to align category strategies with overall business goals.

   - Collaborate with the content team to ensure accurate and compelling product descriptions, imagery, and marketing materials.

   - Partner with the logistics team to ensure timely delivery and inventory replenishment.
 

6. **Data Analysis and Reporting:**

   - Analyze sales data, customer behavior, and market trends to identify opportunities and challenges.

   - Prepare regular reports on category performance, including sales, margins, and inventory turnover.

   - Use data insights to make informed decisions and adjust strategies as needed.
 

7. **Customer Experience:**

   - Ensure that the category offers a seamless and engaging shopping experience for customers.

   - Monitor customer feedback and reviews to identify areas for improvement.

   - Stay updated on industry trends and customer preferences to keep the category relevant and competitive.

### **Qualifications:**


- **Education:** Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Fashion Merchandising, or a related field. MBA is a plus.

- **Experience:** 5+ years of experience in category management, merchandising, or buying, preferably within the fashion e-commerce industry.

- **Skills:**

  - Strong understanding of the fashion industry and e-commerce trends.

  - Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.

  - Proficiency in data analysis and using tools like Excel, Google Analytics, or similar platforms.

  - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  - Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  - Creative thinker with a customer-centric approach.
