Job Description
As a fulfillment center operation manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the overall operations of the team. You will plan, implement, and evaluate the team's processes, policies, and procedures and ensure that they align with the vision and mission of our company. You will also lead, coach, and manage a team of senior supervisors and supervisors who perform various tasks such as receiving, stowing, picking, sorting, and packing products. You will monitor the performance, safety, and quality of your team and ensure that they meet the goals and standards of our company.
Accountable for the daily operations assuring efficient product flow, monitoring daily performance of associates and quality improvement. Responsible for following and making associates aware of company policies and procedures. Manages to assure maximum efficiency, quality, and service at the least possible cost. Direct planning to assure optimum performance related to cost efficiency. Responsible for managing, training, and helps manage employee relations programs and issues, where appropriate.
Responsibilities
Inbound
- Managing a dynamic team of supervisors, full-time and part-time warehouse staff, and other direct reports.
- Reporting weekly on multiple fulfillment and performance KPIs.
- Providing data-backed and actionable updates to senior management to improve order fulfillment SLAs.
- Developing and managing performance goals and objectives to exceed business expectations through timely execution, accuracy, and quality.
- Proactively identifying and leading process improvement initiatives and Lean tools, including partnering with the technology team to give feedback and drive improvements.
- Clearly communicating policies to team members and acting as the primary information source for the team, maintaining compliance and consistency, and taking corrective action when needed.
- Tracking performance metrics such as order cycle times, error rates, and customer satisfaction rates to identify areas for improvement.
- Providing customer service support to other departments within the company such as commercial or human resources, to help ensure smooth operations.
- Manage the team budget and control costs effectively.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Provide feedback, coaching, and guidance where appropriate to enhance skill development and resolve poor performance.
- Research trends and root causes and identify solutions that best address them, and accurately analyze the most critical facts to understand problems.
- Help others in the team to prioritize tasks and ensure the achievement of critical individual and group goals.
Outbound
- Manages the workforce and workflow within the departments directly or through supervisors to needed outbound job functions within the departments to balance staffing and reduce overtime. Works directly with associates to establish and foster a strong working relationship to support and enhance work performance. Ensures the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of all outbound functions. Inbound - Ensure proper acceptance of product in accord and relevant to regulations and Company policy; , Outbound - Ensure timeliness, safety and accuracy of outbound shipments.
- As an FC leadership member, manages outbound flow of product through the FC in the Outbound: Direct reports, order-filling, replenishments, shipping and other duties as assigned.
- In conjunction with the FC senior manager, responsible for the development and coaching of outbound Supervisors. Conducts associate performance reviews and gainsharing results. Conduct employee training and development, monitor job and safety requirements. Perform Job Element Analysis in order to improve job performance, ongoing process.
- Outbound - Works directly with members-vendors-customers to establish and foster a strong relationship related to warehousing and or delivery functions.
- Ensures the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of all outbound product delivery. Makes sure the facility is a safe work environment.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in operations management, logistics, supply chain, or related field.
- At least five years of experience in managing warehouse operations or fulfillment centers.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Ability to use data and metrics to drive decisions and actions.
- Knowledge of various software systems and technologies such as inventory management systems (IMSs), warehouse management systems (WMSs), and other warehousing automation.
- Lead team cost, capacity, and ROI forecasting.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of process improvement trends and best practices
- Detail-oriented.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong understanding of data rules, and comfortable with conducting analytics to make recommendations and decisions.
