Job Summary:
The Category Supervisor for Books and Stationery will be responsible for overseeing the supply chain, merchandising, and strategic development of our books and stationery category. This role requires a proactive individual who can build and maintain a powerful network within the industry, ensuring that we remain at the forefront of market trends and customer preferences.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supplier Management:
- Identify and establish relationships with key suppliers in the books and stationery sectors.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms to optimize supply chain efficiency and profitability.
2. Category Development:
- Conduct market research to identify trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape.
- Develop and implement category strategies to enhance product assortment and positioning.
3. Inventory Management:
- Monitor stock levels and coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely replenishment.
- Analyze sales data to forecast demand and reduce excess inventory.
4. Network Building:
- Attend industry events, trade shows, and conferences to expand professional network.
- Collaborate with publishers, authors, and stationery manufacturers to explore partnership opportunities.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience in category management, procurement, or retail operations, preferably in books and stationery.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience working with suppliers.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and market trends.
