Job Description
About the Role
We’re building a high-traffic news site with video-on-demand and live streaming. We’re looking for 2 backend engineers to help design and build:
- Core backend services (users, articles, subscriptions)
- Video upload, processing, and playback system
- Scalable microservices architecture
Responsibilities
- Develop REST APIs using Django or FastAPI
- Design and manage PostgreSQL and Redis databases
- Handle video uploads via S3 + signed URLs
- Transcode videos to HLS using FFmpeg
- Build async processing pipelines with Celery
- Integrate Stripe (or similar) for subscriptions
- Secure media delivery with CloudFront or similar CDN
- Write tests and participate in code reviews
Requirements
- 3+ years of Python backend experience
- Strong with Django or FastAPI
- Good SQL and database design skills
- Experience with FFmpeg and video streaming (HLS, S3)
- Familiar with background job queues (Celery, RQ, etc.)
- Comfortable with Docker and Git
Bonus Skills
- Live streaming (RTMP, SRT)
- Kubernetes, GitHub Actions
- Elasticsearch, CDN tuning
