We are building the first integrated platform that connects smart sensors, AI analytics, and automation to protect guest comfort and operational efficiency in hotels, Airbnbs, and other living spaces.

You’ll be joining a passionate international team developing a suite of products that bridge hardware, software, and AI — from LegBelt pest-monitoring devices to the BioOps automation engine.

The Role
We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who can think like an architect but build like a startup founder — someone who’s comfortable owning the backend and data systems, but also able to deliver features end-to-end when needed.

You’ll design and develop the backend powering both our Next.js webapp and React Native mobile app, and help shape the technical direction of a platform that scales across thousands of smart rooms.

 
What You’ll Do
Architect and implement the core backend services for NYOP’s Environmental Intelligence Platform
(APIs, data models, events, background jobs, notifications)
Build and maintain scalable REST/tRPC APIs for both web and mobile clients
Design and optimize the database schema (Prisma + PostgreSQL) for multi-tenant analytics
Integrate AI/ML pipelines for sensor data, anomaly detection, and predictive maintenance
Collaborate with the AI and frontend teams to ship data-driven features end-to-end
Deploy and maintain services using modern DevOps tooling (Vercel, Docker, Railway)
Ensure high standards of security, reliability, and observability (Sentry, OpenTelemetry, Redis queues)
Contribute to technical decisions, architecture, and code reviews as a core member of the engineering team
 
Who You Are
5+ years professional experience in backend or full-stack development
Strong proficiency in Node.js + TypeScript (NestJS, Fastify, or Express)
Experience with Prisma or similar ORM, and PostgreSQL
Solid understanding of API design, authentication, and data modeling
Familiar with Next.js / React (comfortable contributing to frontend when needed)
Experience deploying production systems on Vercel, AWS, or similar environments
Exposure to IoT, data streaming, or AI/ML pipelines (TensorFlow.js, PyTorch, or cloud-based inference)
Curious, analytical, and motivated by building technology that solves physical-world problems
