Virtualization & Storage Engineer

This is a hands-on, operational role with complete ownership of the design, implementation, and maintenance of our compute, storage, and data protection platforms. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of the virtualized environments that power our services.

Responsibilities

• Virtualization & Compute Architecture: Design, implement, and maintain the company's virtualization and compute infrastructure, including VMware vSphere, vCenter Server, ESXi hosts, and Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI).
• Platform Management: Take full lifecycle ownership of the virtualization platform (VMware) and HCI systems (e.g., Cisco Hyperflex, Dell VxRail), including virtual networking components like virtual switches (vSwitch/DVS).
• Storage & Backup Management: Take full lifecycle ownership of the storage and backup infrastructure. This includes configuring and maintaining SAN Storage arrays, SAN switching (Fibre Channel/iSCCI), and managing backup software and hardware.
• Physical Operations: Perform all physical cabling and racking for new servers, HCI nodes, and storage hardware within the data center.
• Monitoring & Performance: Configure and manage monitoring for all virtualized platforms, server hardware, storage systems, and backup jobs to ensure health, performance, and data integrity.
• Incident Ownership: Act as the primary owner and first responder for all incidents related to servers, storage, backups, and the virtualization platform, participating in a dedicated on-call rotation.
• Documentation: Create and maintain the definitive source of truth for all VM templates, datastore layouts, HCI configurations, and backup/disaster recovery procedures.
• Vendor Management: Own the technical relationship and manage all support cases with compute, virtualization, and storage vendors (e.g., Dell, VMware, Veeam).

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in infrastructure, systems, or virtualization engineering.
• Hands-on experience with virtualization infrastructure, specifically VMware vCenter and the vSphere suite.
• Proven experience managing enterprise server hardware and SAN storage.
• Hands-on experience with infrastructure monitoring tools and logging platforms.
• Strong understanding of backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent documentation skills and adherence to change management practices.
