Technical Team Lead

At Wallex, we are looking for a highly disciplined and technically strong Technical Lead with a primary focus on PHP and Go, to lead the design and development of large-scale, high-throughput financial systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for the backend team with a primary focus on PHP and Go, ensuring clean architecture, code quality, and engineering discipline.
• Actively participate in critical decision-making under high-pressure conditions, including incident response, system degradation, and time-sensitive releases.
• Enforce engineering discipline, including coding standards, code reviews, documentation, and operational best practices.
• Collaborate closely with Product, DevOps, and Architecture teams to align technical solutions with business goals.
• Design and evolve microservice-based architectures, ensuring scalability, fault tolerance, and performance.
• Drive adoption of observability-first engineering (metrics, logs, tracing) to ensure system reliability in production.
• Take responsibility for production stability, performance optimization, and continuous improvement of critical services.
• Evaluate and introduce appropriate technologies while keeping systems maintainable and operationally efficient.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Technical Lead or Senior Backend Engineer in high-scale, production-critical systems.
• Strong expertise in PHP and Go with real-world experience in performance-sensitive and concurrent systems.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure, manage incidents, and lead teams during critical operational moments.
• Solid background in distributed systems, including messaging systems, event-driven architectures, and data consistency strategies.
• Hands-on experience with microservices, Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native environments.
• Deep understanding of scalability challenges (high traffic, low latency, fault tolerance, rate limiting, back-pressure).
• Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-aware development.
• Familiarity with observability tools (metrics, logging, tracing) and production monitoring.
• Strong sense of ownership, discipline, and accountability in engineering work.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead by example.
• Prior experience in fintech, payments, trading systems, or other mission-critical domains is a strong plus.

Nice to Have

• Understanding of financial markets and trading systems, including familiarity with high-frequency / high-throughput trading (HTF) concepts and constraints.
• Strong system-level architectural vision, with the ability to reason beyond individual services and make holistic design decisions.
• Proven experience working with high-traffic, high-availability systems operating under strict SLA / SLO requirements.
• Exposure to performance-critical environments where latency, reliability, and resilience are key success factors.
