Technical Lead (AI & Data Engineering)

Position Overview

We are seeking a Technical Lead with strong expertise in AI-driven systems, IoT data pipelines, and backend engineering to lead a 4–5 member technical team. This role focuses on building modern, scalable, on-premise data platforms and collaborating with oil & gas domain experts to translate operational requirements into technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a technical team of 4–5 engineers (backend, data, DevOps).
• Architect and implement backend services using Python or Go.
• Design and build modern IoT and time-series data pipelines (edge → on-prem infrastructure).
• Oversee the development of ML components (forecasting, anomaly detection, optimization).
• Work with time-series databases, including:
• InfluxDB
• TimescaleDB
• Collaborate with DevOps engineers on CI/CD, containerization, monitoring, and automated deployment.
• Ensure system performance, reliability, and security across all components.
• Participate in architectural reviews, code reviews, and technical decision-making.

• Translate operational oil & gas requirements into scalable systems and data architectures.

   

Required Technical Skills

Backend Engineering

• Strong experience with Python or Go
• Experience with Django (FastAPI/Flask is a plus)
• Familiarity with microservices and distributed systems architecture

AI / Data

• Understanding of machine learning fundamentals

• Experience working with time-series and sensor data

  • Familiarity with Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn (PyTorch/TensorFlow optional)

  IoT & Communication Protocols (Modern)

  • Experience with MQTT for IoT messaging
  • Experience with gRPC for high-performance service communication
  • Understanding of edge-to-on-prem streaming architectures

  DevOps & On-Prem Infrastructure

  • Docker and Kubernetes
  • CI/CD (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins)
  • Linux server management
  • Monitoring and observability (Grafana, Prometheus)
  • Familiarity with container registries and internal deployments

  Security & Networking

  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, firewalls, VLANs)
  • Knowledge of basic information security principles
  • Experience implementing secure communication, authentication, and access control

  • Understanding best practices for securing on-prem services and IoT data flows

     

    Nice to Have (Industrial / Oil & Gas Context)

    • Familiarity with OPC-UA or Modbus TCP
    • Experience with industrial IoT or operational systems
    • Knowledge of predictive maintenance or anomaly detection
    • Understanding of SCADA/PLC environments
    • Experience with industrial gateways or edge devices
