Senior Accountant

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting
Maintain accurate books of accounts in compliance with IFRS
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Perform month-end closing, journal entries, accruals, and provisions
Reconcile GL accounts, bank accounts, and control accounts
Support external and internal audits and provide required schedules

Trading & Inventory Accounting
Record metal trading transactions (purchase, sales, stock movements)
Monitor inventory valuation (weighted average / FIFO as applicable)
Track landed cost including freight, insurance, customs duty, and logistics
Reconcile physical stock with system inventory and warehouse reports
Analyze inventory ageing and slow-moving stock

Receivables / Payables
Monitor customer receivables, credit limits, and ageing
Process supplier invoices and ensure timely payments
Coordinate with banks on trade settlements and currency conversions

VAT & Compliance (UAE)
Prepare and review VAT returns and supporting schedules
Ensure correct VAT treatment on local, export, and cross-border transactions
Maintain proper documentation for VAT audits and FTA compliance
Assist in corporate tax computations.

Intercompany & Group Reporting
Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations
Ensure balances are confirmed and differences resolved on time
Support group consolidation and reporting requirements
Budgeting & Analysis

Assist in preparation of annual budgets and forecasts
Analyze gross margins by product, customer, and region
Prepare management reports and variance analysis
 
Requirements & Qualifications
Education & Certification
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce
Professional qualification preferred: CA / ACCA / CPA / CMA

Experience
5–8 years of accounting experience, preferably in metal trading / commodity trading 
Strong exposure to inventory-driven businesses

Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of IFRS and trading accounting
Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Focus, Board, Odoo, etc.)
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliations)
Understanding of multi-currency and FX revaluation
Strong analytical, communication, and coordination skills
 
Preferred Attributes
Experience in steel, aluminum, copper, or other metal trading
Knowledge of Incoterms, shipping, and logistics accounting
Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
