About the Role
We're looking for a Data Engineer who's passionate about gaming to join our data team. At Incytel Games, we believe great games are powered by great data.
In this role, you'll be responsible for building and maintaining the data infrastructure that powers analytics, business intelligence, experimentation, and machine learning across our games. You'll work closely with product managers, game designers and developers to ensure data is accurate, accessible, and scalable as our games and player base grow.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines that collect and process player, gameplay, business, and marketing data.
- Develop and manage data warehouses, data models, and staging layers that support analytics and reporting needs.
- Optimize and scale our data infrastructure to handle increasing data volumes and evolving business requirements.
- Collaborate with product managers, game designers, analysts, and engineers to deliver reliable and actionable data solutions.
- Monitor data quality, pipeline performance, and warehouse reliability, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
- Automate data workflows and implement best practices for testing, documentation, and monitoring.
- Support machine learning initiatives by building and maintaining data pipelines, feature datasets, and model-serving infrastructure.
- Enable analytics use cases such as A/B testing, cohort analysis, user segmentation, retention analysis, and monetization reporting.
- Contribute to the evolution of our data platform and help define scalable data engineering standards and processes.
What We're Looking For
- At least 2 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a related role.
- Strong SQL skills (PostgreSQL preferred) and experience working with large-scale datasets.
- Strong programming skills in Python for data processing, automation, and pipeline development.
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines and data workflows.
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and data architecture.
- Experience with orchestration and transformation tools such as Airflow, Prefect, dbt, or similar technologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and address data and system issues.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; comfortable working with managers as well as technical and creative teams.
- Familiarity with Metabase or other BI and analytics tools.
Nice to Have
- Experience with ClickHouse, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or other analytical databases.
- Experience with machine learning workflows and feature engineering pipelines.
- Experience with game analytics, including player behavior, retention, monetization, and segmentation.
- Passion for mobile games and a strong curiosity about player behavior and game performance.
