About the Role
At Miare, we are looking for a Technical Team Lead to lead a cross-functional, backend-heavy team working on dispatch, assignment, batching, courier matching, and SLA-critical delivery systems.
This role is for a technical product-minded leader who can translate ambiguous business and operational needs into feasible technical products, clear execution plans, and reliable production systems. You will be expected to shape the solution, challenge weak assumptions, align product, data, and engineering work, and make sure the team delivers outcomes that are technically sound, operationally useful, and measurable in production.
You will lead a team of around 4–6 people, typically including backend engineers and potentially a Product Manager, Data Scientist, Data Analyst, or other domain contributors. While the team is backend-heavy, your responsibility is broader than backend task delivery: you are expected to shape the team’s direction, manage delivery risks, and ensure the team focuses on solutions that create real business and operational impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a cross-functional, backend-heavy team working on dispatch, assignment, batching, courier matching, and SLA-critical systems.
- Translate business, product, and operational problems into clear technical product scope, milestones, and delivery plans.
- Work with Product, Operations, and Data to shape priorities, challenge weak assumptions, correct risky or infeasible plans, and define success metrics.
- Manage trade-offs between delivery speed, technical debt, reliability, SLA risk, operational complexity, and business impact.
- Support engineers with task breakdown, estimation, implementation approach, technical decisions, sequencing, and execution follow-up.
- Use data, logs, metrics, dashboards, and production signals to diagnose issues, monitor rollout risks, and evaluate post-release impact.
- Contribute to hiring, feedback, evaluation, and team composition decisions.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- 2+ years of experience in technical leadership, team leadership, squad leadership, or similar roles.
- Ability to translate ambiguous business or operational needs into practical technical product scope and execution plans.
- Strong backend software engineering background with experience building and maintaining production systems.
- Experience leading or coordinating engineering or cross-functional product teams.
- Ability to reason about production systems, operational metrics, rollout risks, and real-world constraints.
- Strong ownership, technical judgment, prioritization, problem-solving, communication, and execution management skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience using data and operational metrics to improve production systems and business outcomes.
- Experience with controlled rollouts, A/B tests, switchback tests, feature flags, monitoring, and rollback decisions.
Education
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field is preferred.
