Senior Backend Software Engineer (Go)

About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our engineering team. You will work on backend services that support a customer-facing digital product, taking part in technical design, implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing improvement. You will collaborate closely with product, frontend, QA, and other engineers to deliver reliable and maintainable solutions. We also expect engineers to make effective and responsible use of modern AI-assisted development tools while remaining accountable for the quality and security of their work.

Responsibilities
• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services using Go.
• Turn product and technical requirements into practical software solutions.
• Contribute to architecture and technical decisions.
• Design and maintain RESTful APIs based on OpenAPI specifications.
• Build reliable integrations with internal and external systems.
• Develop background and asynchronous processing workflows.
• Work with relational databases, caching, and queuing technologies.
• Improve the performance, reliability, security, and scalability of existing systems.
• Add appropriate logging, metrics, tracing, and monitoring to services.
• Write and maintain unit and integration tests.
• Review code and help maintain engineering standards across the team.
• Improve build, test, deployment, and delivery processes.
• Contribute to containerization, orchestration, and production readiness.
• Investigate production issues, identify root causes, and implement preventive improvements.
• Use AI and LLM-based tools where appropriate for code exploration, implementation support, test generation, documentation, debugging, and technical research.
• Review and validate AI-generated output for correctness, maintainability, security, and compliance with engineering standards.
• Share technical knowledge and support the development of other engineers.

Requirements
• At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong experience building production services with Go.
• Good understanding of software architecture and maintainable software design.
• Strong knowledge of RESTful API design, development, and versioning.
• Practical experience working with OpenAPI specifications and related tooling.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including data modeling and query optimization.
• Experience with background jobs, asynchronous processing, and caching mechanisms.
• Good understanding of concurrency, error handling, idempotency, and transaction management.
• Experience writing unit, integration, and service-level tests.
• Familiarity with containers, orchestration platforms, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with structured logging, monitoring, metrics, and distributed tracing.
• Good knowledge of Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Practical experience using AI-assisted development or LLM-based tools as part of an engineering workflow.
• Ability to evaluate AI-generated suggestions instead of accepting them without technical review.
• Awareness of privacy and security considerations when using AI tools with source code, logs, and internal information.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Nice to Have
• Experience with Kubernetes or OpenShift and Helm.
• Experience with Prometheus and OpenTelemetry.
• Experience with code generation and type-safe database tooling.
• Experience integrating with multiple third-party systems.
• Familiarity with secure software development and the protection of sensitive data.
• Experience creating reusable prompts, instructions, or workflows for AI-assisted software development.
