We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Estimating Specialist to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for commercial, industrial, and low-voltage electrical projects. This role requires strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with internal teams, vendors, suppliers, and clients to deliver cost-effective and technically sound solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate quantity take-offs, material lists, labor estimates, and pricing sheets for project opportunities.
- Collaborate with the estimating team to validate estimates based on project scope, design requirements, and actual site conditions.
- Communicate proactively with vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, and customers to obtain competitive pricing and identify the most efficient technical solutions.
- Prepare comprehensive cost estimates, bid summaries, and pricing proposals within required deadlines.
- Participate in the preparation and submission of competitive tenders and bid packages.
- Assist in developing complete technical and financial proposals for public tenders, private bids, and new construction opportunities generated by the sales team.
- Support value engineering initiatives by identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or project requirements.
- Prepare and deliver technical solution presentations to internal stakeholders and clients when required.
- Maintain organized documentation of estimates, quotations, supplier pricing, and bid records.
- Monitor market pricing, material costs, labor trends, and industry developments to improve estimating accuracy.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Sales, Operations, and Procurement throughout the estimating process.
- Mentor, guide, and support Junior Estimators by providing technical training, quality reviews, and ongoing coaching.
- Ensure all estimates comply with applicable codes, standards, company procedures, and client requirements.
- Perform other estimating and operational duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Experience preparing estimates for security systems, CCTV, Access Control, Intrusion Alarm, Structured Cabling, and networking projects is considered a strong asset.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, construction methods, and estimating principles.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
