We are hiring a Senior Backend Developer to evolve a mission-critical financial-management monolith powering payments, invoicing, wallets, and settlement workflows. You will design reliable backend capabilities where correctness, idempotency, auditability, and operational resilience are essential.
You are a hands-on senior engineer who can reason carefully about money movement and data correctness. You avoid “happy-path-only” implementations, communicate trade-offs clearly, and can balance delivery speed with the reliability expectations of financial systems.
Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain asynchronous APIs.
• Design safe financial workflows: transactional consistency, idempotency, retry/recovery handling, distributed locking, reconciliation, and failure compensation.
• Improve database schema design, migrations, constraints, indexes, query performance, and data integrity.
• Build reliable background processes.
• Maintain clear modular boundaries across API controllers, services, repositories, domain logic, DTOs, and external-service adapters.
• Write and review high-quality unit, integration, regression, and end-to-end financial-flow tests with pytest and pytest-asyncio.
• Improve observability through structured logging, Sentry, Prometheus metrics, health checks, and production incident diagnosis.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of professional backend-development experience
• Deep knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases
• Experience designing resilient distributed workflows using idempotency keys, retries, background jobs, queues, and Redis-based coordination.
• Experience testing asynchronous backend services
• Strong code-review, system-design, debugging, and communication skills.

Nice to Have:

• Experience in fintech, payments, wallets, invoicing, accounting, insurance, marketplaces, or other regulated financial systems.
• Security knowledge relevant to financial systems: secure secret handling, JWT/authentication flows, PII protection, audit logs, and least-privilege access.
• Experience migrating or improving a modular monolith without unnecessary microservice fragmentation.
• Strong production experience with FastAPI or a comparable async Python web framework.
• Deep knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL
