Senior Software Engineer (Node.js)

Build the Technology Behind a Regional Travel Platform
We are building a technology-driven travel platform serving one of the largest and fastest-growing travel markets in the region.
Over the past two years, we have built the foundations of the platform and developed core operational capabilities. We are now entering the next stage of growth and are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help design, build, and scale our platform while contributing to engineering excellence across the team.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, building scalable distributed systems, and collaborating closely with engineers, product managers, and designers.
Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js, NestJS, and TypeScript.
• Build reliable microservices that power core travel booking and operational workflows.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following software engineering best practices.
• Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to long-term technical decisions.
• Troubleshoot production issues and improve system reliability and performance.
• Contribute to system architecture with a focus on Microservices and Domain-Driven Design (DDD).
• Participate in code reviews and promote Clean Code principles.
• Help reduce technical debt while balancing business priorities.
• Collaborate with product and design teams to refine technical solutions.
• Maintain high standards for testing, documentation, and deployment quality.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements when appropriate.
• Break down user stories into technical implementation tasks.
• Collaborate closely with teammates during planning, estimation, and delivery.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews and knowledge sharing.
• Support the team in delivering features on schedule while maintaining quality.

Qualifications & Experience

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience developing backend applications with Node.js and NestJS.
• Strong experience building scalable backend systems and APIs.
• Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban, or Lean).
• Experience in the Travel Tech industry (OTAs, booking engines, airline, hotel, or tourism platforms) is highly preferred.

Must-Haves

• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and NestJS.
• Experience designing and building Microservices.
• Solid understanding of Domain-Driven Design (DDD).
• Experience implementing distributed systems and Saga-based workflows.

Databases

• Strong experience with PostgreSQL.
• Experience with Redis and caching strategies.
• Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases.

DevOps & Infrastructure

• Experience with Docker and containerized applications.
• Familiarity with Docker Swarm or Kubernetes.
• Experience working with GitLab CI/CD or similar CI/CD platforms.

Protocols & Tooling

• Experience with gRPC, REST APIs, Swagger/OpenAPI, and Git.

Quality

• Strong understanding of Unit Testing and automated testing practices.
• Commitment to Clean Code, maintainability, and software craftsmanship.

AI & Automation

• Explore opportunities to leverage AI in software development and business workflows.
• Integrate AI-powered capabilities into products where appropriate.
• Utilize AI tools to improve engineering productivity and code quality.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with React.js or Next.js.
• Experience with event-driven architectures (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar).
