About Us
At Datica, we are building an AI-powered LegalTech platform that uses Large Language Models (LLMs), AI Agents, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to transform legal research, document analysis, drafting, and other legal workflows.

Our platform helps individuals, lawyers, and businesses understand legal information, work with legal documents, and complete complex legal tasks more efficiently.

We are looking for a hands-on Frontend Engineer to help build intuitive, responsive, and reliable experiences for individuals, lawyers, legal teams, and businesses.

You will work closely with our product designer, backend engineers, AI engineers, and legal experts to turn complex legal and AI-powered workflows into simple and effective digital products.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain responsive web applications using React and Next.js.
• Build dashboards and workspaces for lawyers, clients, and corporate users.
• Develop AI chat interfaces, legal research experiences, and agent-based workflows.
• Build document-management features, including document upload, viewing, organization, and interaction.
• Integrate frontend applications with backend services and REST APIs.
• Manage server state, caching, loading states, and error handling.
• Translate product designs and user flows into polished, production-ready interfaces.
• Build reusable components and contribute to the frontend design system.
• Optimize application performance, responsiveness, and accessibility.
• Handle complex UI states involving AI responses, streaming content, citations, documents, and user feedback.
• Identify and resolve frontend bugs and performance issues.
• Collaborate closely with product designers, backend engineers, AI engineers, and legal experts.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to frontend architecture and engineering standards.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of professional React development experience.
• Strong experience with Next.js.
• Strong knowledge of TypeScript and modern JavaScript.
• Experience with Tailwind CSS.
• Familiarity with React Query or TanStack Query.
• Experience consuming and integrating REST APIs.
• Strong understanding of responsive design principles.
• Experience building reusable, component-based user interfaces.
• Understanding of state management, asynchronous data flows, and frontend application architecture.
• Familiarity with Git and collaborative software-development workflows.
• Attention to detail and commitment to building high-quality user experiences.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership in a fast-moving startup environment.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with designers and technical team members.

Nice to Have

• Experience working with Docker and Docker Compose.
• Experience with Shadcn/UI.
• Experience with Framer Motion or other animation libraries.
• Experience with PDF rendering or document-viewing libraries.
• Familiarity with WebSocket or Server-Sent Events for real-time and streaming interfaces.
• Experience with Zustand or another frontend state-management library.
• Experience building AI chat, copilot, or conversational interfaces.
• Experience displaying streamed AI responses, source citations, references, and structured outputs.
• Experience building SaaS dashboards, document-heavy applications, or professional productivity tools.
• Familiarity with authentication, authorization, and role-based access control.
• Understanding of frontend testing and quality-assurance practices.
• Familiarity with accessibility standards.
• Experience working in LegalTech, FinTech, enterprise SaaS, or another trust-sensitive industry.
• Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools while maintaining code quality and engineering judgment.

The Person We Are Looking For

• You are a product-minded frontend engineer who cares about more than making screens visually accurate.
• You think carefully about how users interact with complex systems, how interfaces behave across different states, and how to make AI-generated information understandable and trustworthy.
• You are comfortable working on both foundational frontend architecture and detailed product features. You can take a feature from design and API documentation through implementation, testing, refinement, and production release.
• You enjoy working closely with designers and backend engineers, communicate problems clearly, and take ownership of the quality of what you build.

What Success Looks Like
In the first few months, you will be expected to:

• Develop a strong understanding of Datica’s users, product, and frontend architecture.
• Build and improve core lawyer and client dashboards.
• Deliver polished AI chat and document-management experiences.
• Improve frontend performance, responsiveness, and consistency.
• Establish reusable components and sound frontend development patterns.
• Work effectively with the product designer and backend team to deliver production-ready features.
• Identify and resolve important usability and technical issues in the existing product.
• Contribute to a scalable frontend foundation that can support Datica’s growth.
