The Transportation Supervisor is a key role within the Logistics Department at SnappShop, responsible for overseeing and optimizing fleet and transportation operations across the distribution network.
This role focuses on planning, executing, and continuously improving the movement of goods and shipments, with a strong emphasis on route optimization, cost efficiency, operational excellence, and maintaining high service levels across both local and long-haul deliveries.
The Transportation Supervisor plays a key role in ensuring that transportation operations are executed safely, efficiently, and reliably while balancing operational capacity, cost, and service-level requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the performance of both in-house and third-party carriers.
- Hold transportation partners accountable for defined service standards and operational requirements.
- Ensure fleet availability, vehicle maintenance, and driver performance meet operational needs.
- Monitor fleet utilization and identify opportunities to improve vehicle productivity and operational efficiency.
- Ensure transportation resources are effectively aligned with business and workload requirements.
- Actively monitor, analyze, and control transportation-related expenses.
- Track transportation cost performance and identify key cost drivers.
- Identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency through better fleet utilization, route planning, capacity management, and operational processes.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing transportation costs and improving overall operational efficiency.
- Propose and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising delivery quality or service levels.
- Oversee the effective execution of transportation plans across the distribution network.
- Translate business and operational requirements into effective transportation plans and execution strategies.
- Proactively identify operational risks and develop mitigation plans to maintain service continuity.
- Ensure transportation operations remain responsive to changes in workload, demand, and business priorities.
- Ensure the right balance between cost efficiency, operational capacity, and on-time delivery requirements.
- Analyze transportation and transit data to identify opportunities for improving delivery times and reducing shipping costs across LM/MM/FM routes.
- Identify route, capacity, and network inefficiencies and develop actionable improvement plans.
- Continuously evaluate transportation flows and recommend changes to improve network productivity and service levels.
- Leverage operational data and performance insights to support transportation network optimization.
- Ensure all transportation operations comply with applicable safety regulations, traffic laws, and company standards.
- Monitor compliance with required transportation policies and procedures.
- Maintain high standards of operational safety across fleet, drivers, and transportation partners.
- Identify safety and compliance risks and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
- Promote a strong culture of safety, accountability, and operational compliance across transportation activities.
- Proactively plan fleet, vehicle, and headcount levels based on workload forecasts and peak-season requirements.
- Analyze current and projected workload requirements to identify potential capacity gaps or surpluses.
- Develop proactive capacity plans to ensure operational readiness during peak periods and unexpected demand fluctuations.
- Monitor key transportation KPIs and operational performance metrics.
- Analyze performance trends, identify root causes of operational gaps, and drive corrective actions.
- Prepare regular management reports and provide actionable insights based on transportation performance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Industrial Management, Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in transportation, fleet management, logistics, supply chain, or related operations.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of SQL.
- Experience with transportation KPIs, cost management, service-level metrics, fleet utilization, and operational performance.
- Experience using data and analytical tools to identify root causes, improve processes, and support operational decision-making.
- Experience managing transportation capacity, workforce planning, and operational resources in a high-volume environment.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience building accountability and driving team performance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Strong capabilities in transportation planning, route optimization, and network optimization.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Proven ability to manage operational disruptions, capacity constraints, and time-sensitive issues while maintaining service levels.
- Strong ownership and accountability, with a proactive and results-oriented approach.
- Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement and implement scalable operational solutions.
