We are expanding an enterprise SaaS platform and launching new product lines. You will independently own quality for assigned product areas — from requirement review and risk analysis through exploratory testing, automation, release-readiness assessment, and post-release validation.
This is a hybrid manual and automation role: hands-on exploratory and integration testing plus maintainable Playwright automation and API/backend testing. You won't simply execute predefined test cases — we expect you to question unclear behavior, identify failure conditions before implementation, investigate issues across layers, and help the team release with clear evidence and understood risk. Quality is a shared engineering responsibility; your job is to make risk visible, improve testability, and prevent defects rather than find everything at the end.
What You Will Do
Review requirements, stories, designs, and acceptance criteria pre-implementation; flag ambiguity, missing failure cases, authorization risks, data-state transitions, integration risks, and testability constraints.
Build a risk-based test approach; perform exploratory, functional, integration, regression, smoke, and responsive-web testing.
Run REST API tests covering contracts, validation, authorization, errors, idempotency, pagination, state changes, and persistence.
Write and maintain Playwright tests (TypeScript/JavaScript) with resilient locators, fixtures, isolated test data, meaningful assertions, traces, and CI-compatible reports; fix flaky tests at the root cause.
Test authentication, session lifecycle, role-based and resource-level authorization, third-party integrations, background jobs, retries, timeouts, and async workflows.
Diagnose via DevTools, API requests, logs, request IDs, and SQL; write concise defect reports with reliable reproduction, environment/build, user impact, and evidence.
Contribute automated tests to CI, join automation code reviews, and help define which checks block a change or release.
Assess release readiness, communicate residual risk, support post-deployment validation, and analyze escaped defects to improve requirements, coverage, observability, and processes.
What You Need to Demonstrate
2+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent evidence of advanced capability.
Turning an ambiguous feature into a risk-based test approach independently; advanced exploratory and functional web testing.
REST API testing beyond happy paths: validation, errors, authorization, state transitions, persistence, pagination, retries, duplicate requests.
Recent hands-on Playwright and maintainable TypeScript/JavaScript automation (fixtures, stable locators, isolation, traces, reporting).
Failure diagnosis via DevTools, HTTP traffic, logs, and database state; working knowledge of HTTP, JSON, cookies, browser storage, and auth; SQL for setup, validation, and troubleshooting.
Practical Git (branches, commits, PRs, simple conflicts).
Clear communication of defects, assumptions, and release risks; independent work with close Product/Design/Backend/Frontend collaboration; reliable availability during agreed collaboration hours.
Strongly Preferred
Automated test runs in CI (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar).
Testing OAuth 2.0, JWT sessions, role-based access, and tenant isolation.
Testing microservices, background jobs, message-driven workflows, or eventually consistent systems.
Linux CLI troubleshooting (curl, grep, logs); repeatable test-data/environment design; reviewing others' automation code.
Nice to Have
Performance/load testing (k6, JMeter, Gatling, Locust); interpreting latency percentiles, throughput, error rates.
Docker for test dependencies; basic Kubernetes troubleshooting.
GraphQL, WebSockets, NoSQL, message queues, contract testing, accessibility, or visual-regression testing.
Monitoring/synthetic checks for production workflows; responsible use of AI-assisted testing tools.
Success in Your First Months
Understand the highest-risk workflows and integrations; test assigned features end-to-end independently; add stable automated coverage for critical UI and API risks; improve diagnostic quality of failures and defects; reduce regression risk without bloating the suite; communicate release confidence clearly; build trusted relationships with Product and Engineering.
Remote-Working Expectations
Full-time, fully remote, and exclusive — no other job or side work affecting availability or performance. Availability during agreed collaboration hours, reliable internet, and an environment suitable for confidential meetings. Home working strongly preferred, in a quiet, private, dedicated workspace; coworking only with unrestricted access to a fully private meeting room. Compensation and Growth
Salary is separate from OKR-based incentives; strong performance and achieved OKRs lead to bonuses and structured salary increases.

No degree or QA certification required — we evaluate demonstrated engineering ability, testing judgment, technical depth, communication, and ownership.
