This role is responsible for operating, maintaining, and optimizing the organization’s Kubernetes clusters, ensuring reliability, scalability, and automation across containerized applications. The engineer will manage the full lifecycle of Kubernetes environments, work with Rancher for cluster orchestration, and implement monitoring, observability, and CI/CD best practices.
Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain production-grade Kubernetes clusters
• Manage cluster lifecycle: provisioning, upgrades, scaling, security hardening
• Work with Rancher for cluster management, RBAC, and multi-cluster operations
• Deploy and manage workloads using Helm / manifests / GitOps workflows
• Implement observability stack using Prometheus, Alertmanager, Grafana
• Support and operate ELK/Elastic Stack for logging and analytics
• Develop automation with Ansible (cluster tasks, node configuration, app deployment)
• Manage container runtimes (Docker / containerd)
• Troubleshoot complex issues across container, network, and storage layers
• Work closely with DevOps, Development, and Security teams
• Maintain documentation and operational runbooks
• Participate in on-call rotation for cluster-related incidents (if needed)

Requirements:

• Hands-on experience managing Kubernetes clusters in production environments
• Strong understanding of Kubernetes components (API server, Scheduler, kubelet, CNI, CSI)
• Experience with Rancher (cluster import, RKE/RKE2, RBAC, CIS benchmark)
• Strong knowledge of Docker and container ecosystem
• Solid Linux administration background
• Experience with Prometheus + Alertmanager + Grafana
• Knowledge of ELK/Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash/Fluentd, Kibana)
• Proficiency with Ansible for automation
• Understanding of CNI plugins (Calico, Flannel, Cilium)
• Familiarity with Ingress controllers (NGINX, Traefik, HAProxy)
• Experience troubleshooting networking, service mesh, and cluster health issues
• Experience with GitOps tools (ArgoCD, Flux)
• Familiarity with Terraform
• Experience with service mesh (Istio, Linkerd)
• Knowledge of container security (Falco, Trivy, OPA/Gatekeeper)
• Understanding of cloud platforms (OpenStack, VMware, public cloud)
• SRE background or experience with reliability engineering practices
