Data Center Engineer

Roles & Responsibilities

• Support the DC Manager in Data Center architecture and technical planning by providing operational inputs, maintaining plans, following up on action items, and coordinating relevant technical meetings.
• Execute the operation and maintenance of DC infrastructure and services, including facilities, operating systems, databases, and related technical support infrastructure, to ensure stable and continuous service.
• Operate and support IT infrastructure projects and new Data Center installations, changes, expansions, and migrations, ensuring alignment with approved technical designs, standards, and operational requirements.
• Support the DC Manager to remain aligned with core DC operations and strategies under the supervision of Datacenter and Infrastructure Operation Management by managing vendors, troubleshooting, on-call support, and incident handling.
• Provide management, operations, and ad hoc reports according to manager needs for DC services, facilities, and performance.
• Monitor and evaluate the performance of vendors related to Data Centre services.
• Coordinate with ITS teams, Network/IP teams, business units, and outsourcing partners to address infrastructure requirements, resolve technical issues, and ensure end-to-end service stability and capacity.
• Follow MTNIrancell policies, processes, and procedures (e.g., cabling policy, facilities, and NWG requirements) in all activities and DC operations, including new installations, changes, and expansions.
• Support the DC Manager in implementing strategies and ensuring the technical direction of the Data Centre to support competitive advantage through Data Centre infrastructure.
• Ensure the maintenance of information systems and technical support infrastructure for the business.
• Liaise with ITS teams, business units, and outsourcing partners in the assigned region to fulfill infrastructure business requirements.
• Conduct post-implementation reviews of live systems where infrastructure plays a role in ensuring proper operation of services.
• Supervise outsourcing partners and act as a mediator to resolve conflicts among them.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field.

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in infrastructure operations, with experience in supervising/managing others.
• Experience working in a medium to large organization.
• Experience in systems administration & coordination, IT and infrastructure architecture, and project management.
