We are looking for an experienced Senior QA Engineer to join our engineering team and take ownership of the quality, reliability, and stability of our products across frontend and backend systems.
In this role, you will work across manual and automated testing, API and UI validation, integration and end-to-end testing, and continuous quality improvement. You will collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and other stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle, helping identify risks early, build effective test strategies, and ensure reliable product releases.
Responsibilities:
Testing & Quality Assurance
- Design, review, and execute comprehensive test scenarios for web applications and backend services.
- Perform manual testing across UI, API, integration, and end-to-end flows.
- Perform functional, regression, integration, exploratory, and end-to-end testing.
- Test RESTful APIs, including request and response validation, authentication, error handling, edge cases, and business logic.
- Analyze product requirements and identify missing requirements, edge cases, quality risks, and potential defects before implementation.
- Review test coverage across manual and automated tests and identify areas requiring additional validation.
- Participate in test planning, estimation, release validation, and quality-related technical discussions.
Test Automation
- Design, develop, and maintain automated tests across UI and API layers.
- Build scalable, maintainable, and reusable automation solutions.
- Write clear and maintainable test scenarios using Gherkin and BDD practices where appropriate.
- Select appropriate automation tools and approaches based on product requirements and technical constraints.
- Continuously improve automation coverage, reliability, execution speed, and maintainability.
- Analyze automated test failures and distinguish between product defects, test issues, environment problems, and flaky tests.
API & Backend Testing
- Design and execute comprehensive API test scenarios covering functional behavior, business logic, authentication, authorization, validation, and error handling.
- Validate RESTful APIs using tools such as Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI, or equivalent solutions.
- Investigate backend issues using API responses, logs, databases, and other technical debugging tools.
- Validate data consistency across services and relevant database layers.
- Test integration points and service interactions across backend systems.
Defect Investigation & Release Quality
- Investigate, reproduce, document, and track defects with clear technical details and reliable reproduction steps.
- Collaborate with developers to identify root causes and validate fixes.
- Monitor test results and identify recurring quality issues and patterns.
- Support release decisions by providing clear visibility into test coverage, known risks, and outstanding defects.
- Help establish and maintain quality standards throughout the development and release lifecycle.
CI/CD & Quality Engineering
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and help maintain reliable automated test execution.
- Contribute to improving QA processes, testing strategies, automation architecture, and engineering practices.
- Identify opportunities to shift quality validation earlier into the development lifecycle.
- Improve test environments, tooling, reporting, and overall test execution efficiency.
- Contribute to building a culture of shared quality ownership across Product and Engineering teams.
Collaboration
- Work closely with developers, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Participate in requirement reviews and technical discussions to identify quality risks early.
- Communicate defects, risks, test results, and quality recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Provide constructive feedback that helps improve both product quality and development processes.
- Support and mentor other QA engineers when needed.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of professional experience in software quality assurance, software testing, or quality engineering.
- Strong understanding of software testing principles, methodologies, and the software development lifecycle.
- Strong professional experience with manual UI testing of web applications.
- Strong experience with API testing and backend service validation.
- Hands-on experience with API testing tools such as Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI, or similar solutions.
- Strong experience designing and implementing test automation.
- Experience with at least one UI automation framework such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or equivalent tools.
- Experience with at least one programming or scripting language used for test automation.
- Ability to design scalable, maintainable, and reusable automated test solutions.
- Experience writing test scenarios using Gherkin and applying BDD practices where appropriate.
- Strong understanding of HTTP, REST APIs, JSON, status codes, headers, authentication, and client-server architecture.
- Experience with Git and modern software development workflows.
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and automated test execution.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues using logs, browser developer tools, API responses, databases, and other debugging tools.
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
- Ability to independently investigate complex technical issues and communicate findings clearly.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with TypeScript for test automation.
- Experience with Selenium and related automation tools.
- Experience with Playwright or other modern browser automation frameworks.
- Experience with JavaScript / Node.js-based testing ecosystems.
- Experience with SQL and database validation.
- Experience with performance, stress, or load testing.
- Experience testing distributed systems, microservices, or event-driven architectures.
- Experience with Docker and containerized test environments.
- Familiarity with test reporting, monitoring, and observability tools.
- Experience building or significantly improving automation frameworks from scratch.
- Experience working in high-traffic or complex consumer-facing products.
What We Value
We are not looking for someone who is tied to one specific automation framework or programming language. We value engineers who understand testing principles, automation architecture, software engineering practices, and how to choose the right approach for the problem at hand.
Experience with TypeScript and Selenium is an advantage, but strong experience with equivalent technologies such as JavaScript, Python, Playwright, Cypress, or other modern testing solutions is equally valuable.
We value people who think beyond finding bugs — engineers who proactively identify risks, challenge assumptions, improve the way quality is measured, and help build reliable products from the beginning of the development process.
We build, not watch — This is where you belong!
