Responsibilities
Strategy and results
- Own the marketplace's commercial strategy and annual plan, balancing growth, commission revenue, profitability, seller health, and customer experience.
- Set budgets, forecasts, and targets with Finance, review performance regularly, and act quickly when results fall short.
Categories and assortment
- Decide which categories and sub-categories to prioritize, and where the assortment is thin or missing.
- Grow the share of the market's available products that customers can buy on the platform, using market and platform data to direct recruitment.
- Keep offers competitive on price, availability, and listing quality.
Seller acquisition and growth
- Lead the full seller lifecycle: find and qualify sellers, negotiate and close partnerships, and see them through onboarding, first sale, and growth.
- Set the seller value proposition, commercial terms, and commission structure within agreed authority.
- Manage strategic accounts with clear growth plans, and keep the seller base diverse rather than dependent on a few large sellers.
Seller performance and standards
- Set clear standards for listing accuracy, availability, order acceptance, dispatch, cancellations, and customer service.
- Run seller scorecards, improvement plans, and fair, consistent enforcement.
- Work with Operations to keep order handling and delivery reliable, and to fix the causes of delays.
Seller education and experience
- Build onboarding material and ongoing training on platform tools, listing standards, pricing, promotions, and operations.
- Collect seller feedback, and work with Product and Technology to improve seller tools and workflows.
Campaigns and promotions
- Plan marketplace campaigns with Marketing and Finance: objectives, budget limits, eligibility rules, and post-campaign evaluation.
- Make sure promotions are judged on the business they add, not on sales volume alone.
Trust, quality and compliance
- Work with Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Operations on seller verification (KYC), product authenticity and quality checks, fraud prevention, customer disputes, and policy enforcement.
- Expand into new categories only after the required licences and approvals are in place.
Partnerships
- Develop partnerships in payments, financing, and other services that improve outcomes for customers and sellers, within approved risk limits.
Fair and neutral marketplace
- Apply the same commercial and service rules to every seller, including the company's own retail business.
- Protect every seller's confidential data, and work with the Product owner on ranking and platform rules.
Team leadership
- Hire, lead, and develop the commercial team across seller acquisition, account management, and seller success.
- Set clear roles, goals, and a regular reporting and business-review rhythm.
- Work across Product, Operations, Marketing, Finance, Customer Support, Risk, and Legal to solve marketplace issues and scale responsibly.
Requirements
Must have
- 6+ years in marketplace or e-commerce commercial roles such as seller acquisition, key account management, category management, or seller success, including leadership responsibility.
- A proven record of owning marketplace commercial results: sales, commission revenue, and margin or contribution (not sales volume alone).
- Experience recruiting and growing sellers, negotiating commercial terms, and improving seller activation and performance.
- Experience building category or assortment plans from market, pricing, availability, and customer data.
- Strong commercial and financial judgment: campaign economics, budgets, forecasts, and trade-offs between growth and profitability.
- Experience leading and developing a team, and working closely with Product, Operations, Finance, and Marketing.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills; able to turn data into clear priorities and action.
- Familiarity with seller onboarding, operational standards, customer issues, and trust or compliance processes in a multi-seller business.
Nice to have
- Experience in jewelry, gold, luxury goods, payments, or another high-trust or regulated category.
- Experience in the Iranian e-commerce ecosystem, for example at a multi-seller marketplace.
- Relationships with galleries and manufacturers in the gold and jewelry trade.
