## About the channel
I run an English-language comedy commentary channel on YouTube. Each episode roasts something strange happening on the internet: AI ads taking over YouTube, fake influencers, odd TikTok trends, storytime drama, scams, and deception reveals. I film in my studio holding a handheld mic. Each video follows a script and includes short skits, costume bits, and a lot of internet material: ads, TikToks, screenshots, comments, and articles.
The tone is high-energy, sarcastic, and meme-literate. The edit carries half the comedy, so I need an editor who can be funny with the footage, not just cut it.
## What you'll do
- Turn 30–40 minutes of raw A-roll plus skit clips into a tight 10–20 minute video.
- Clean up the talking head: keep the last clean take of each line and remove false starts, retakes, tangents, and anything I say to the crew. Cut pauses and breaths so the speech feels tight (roughly anything over ~0.35s, unless the pause is a comedic beat). I usually keep about 60% of what I said.
- Build the hook, keep the middle paced, and land the ending (details below).
- Mix and deliver a ready-to-upload master.
## The style I want
Pacing
- Fast. On average a shot lasts about 2–3 seconds, which works out to roughly 20 cuts per minute. Nothing sits still longer than about 6 seconds without a reframe, cutaway, or background change.
- Fastest in the first 30 seconds, breathing a little in the middle, speeding back up in the last third. The CTA/ending can slow down.
- Every SFX and cut lands on the beat.
Visual grammar (this is the most important part)
- Literalize what I say. Key me out and drop me into real photos that match the line: a desert, a car dealership, a toy store, a lab. The background changes every sentence or two.
- Walls of real material behind me: posters, thumbnails, or screenshots tiled edge to edge.
- Jump cuts alternate framing between wide and tight (~1.3–1.5x). Extreme close-ups for shock beats. No slow, smooth push-ins.
- Mainstream, instantly recognizable references (games, movies, memes) that look well integrated, not cheap.
What I DON'T want
- Template motion graphics: bouncing stickers, marker-style captions, stamps, constant kinetic typography, fake phone frames, film grain, or flash overlays everywhere. If it looks "AI generated" or like a CapCut template, it's wrong.
- Full-screen subtitles. Text should be rare: a plain label box naming a thing, or a single big word on a true punchline.
- Minimal, soulless, "clean corporate" editing. I want personality and depth.
Audio
- Dialogue first. Ad or clip audio plays at full level when it is the joke.
- SFX on cuts and visual hits; a music bed that sits under the voice.
- Final loudness around -14 to -19 LUFS integrated, no clipping.
## Requirements
- A portfolio of long-form YouTube edits (show me 2–3 videos you edited yourself and say what you did on each).
- Adobe Premiere Pro (my projects live there). After Effects is a big plus.
- Solid keying and compositing (green screen / AI matte, roto, matching light and scale so cutouts look real). Basic tracking.
- Comedic timing. You understand why a cut is funny.
- Native or near-native English comprehension: you need to catch jokes, sarcasm, and retakes.
- You know internet culture: TikTok, YouTube, memes, gaming references.
- Reliable with deadlines and communicates clearly.
Nice to have
- You've edited for channels in the style of Cody Ko, Noel Miller, Kurtis Conner, Danny Gonzalez, or similar.
- 3D / tracked asset work, sound design.
