We are seeking a highly skilled Linux System Specialist to lead the migration of a legacy 32-bit Linux system image, including its applications, to a modern 64-bit Linux environment. The successful candidate will ensure that all hardware interfaces (e.g., NIC, USB ports, etc.) are fully accessible and functional within the new system image, without any conflicts. This role requires deep expertise in Linux system administration, kernel customization, and cross-platform migration.

- Conduct a thorough analysis of the existing legacy Linux system image, including its applications, dependencies, and hardware configurations.
- Develop a detailed migration plan, outlining the steps required to port the system to a modern 64-bit Linux environment.Proven experience in Linux system administration, particularly with legacy and modern Linux distributions.
o Proven expertise in system porting and migration across architectures (32-bit to 64-bit).
o Strong background in system migration, porting, and cross-platform compatibility.
o Experience with kernel customization, hardware driver integration, and system optimization.
System Migration:
- Port the legacy system image to a modern 64-bit Linux distribution, ensuring compatibility and functionality of all applications.
- Resolve any compatibility issues arising from differences in library versions, kernel modules, and system configurations.
Hardware Integration:
- Ensure that all hardware interfaces (NIC, USB, etc.) are accessible and functional within the new Linux environment.
- Customize the kernel and system configuration to support legacy hardware drivers if necessary.
Testing and Validation:
- Perform extensive testing to validate the functionality of the ported system image, including application performance and hardware accessibility.
- Identify and resolve any conflicts or issues that arise during testing.
Documentation and Knowledge Transfer:
- Document the migration process, including any custom configurations, kernel modifications, and troubleshooting steps.
- Provide knowledge transfer to the internal team, ensuring they are equipped to maintain and support the new system.
Optimization and Performance Tuning:
- Optimize the new system for performance, ensuring it meets or exceeds the performance of the legacy system.
- Implement best practices for system security and stability.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in Linux system administration, particularly with legacy and modern Linux distributions.
- Proven expertise in system porting and migration across architectures (32-bit to 64-bit).
- Strong background in system migration, porting, and cross-platform compatibility.
- Experience with kernel customization, hardware driver integration, and system optimization.
- Proficiency in shell scripting, Python, or other scripting languages and build tools.
- Deep understanding of Linux kernel internals, system libraries, and hardware abstraction layers.
- Familiarity with virtualization and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, KVM) is a plus.
- Familiarity with network protocols and hardware configuration.
